Fourteen current and former Sheriff's Office employees filed the suit.
Employees allege the county violated the Fair Labor Standards Act. The alleged violation involved providing 60 minutes of compensatory time off for overtime hours worked instead of 90 minutes off, or "time and a half."
The county provided compensatory time off in lieu of paying overtime for hours worked in excess of 40 hours per week.
Plaintiffs seek damages for all unpaid straight time and overtime compensation of one and half times their regular pay rate, plus liquidated damages, recovery of all attorneys' fees and costs and expenses incurred in the lawsuit.
