Buckley said Hoffman wants to begin work as soon as possible. There is not believed to be asbestos in the building, but the insurance company needs a written report, Buckley said.
"He likes the front of the building and wants to keep it," Buckley said. "The whole thing is going to have to be gutted and the back will have to be rebuilt, but the goal is to keep the front intact."
It would likely take about a year to rebuild. It's possible the insurance company will decide the structure will not be salvaged, and a new building would have to be built, Buckley said.

A number of former tenants displaced by the fire have had difficulty getting their rent and security deposits back from Hoffman. One visited Buckley as a reporter talked to him Thursday morning.
The tenant,
"They have not been cooperative at all," she said. "I have been there (to the rental office) numerous times and I keep getting a run-around."
Buckley acknowledged a number of tenants have had difficulty getting their money back, and a number have filed small claims lawsuits against Hoffman.
Hoffman has paid the claims when he gets the information from tenants as to where to send their money or how to return it to them.

He said part of the problem in paying them was Hoffman did not have addresses to send their money to.
"Everyone is going to get their money," Buckley said.

"They are paying people after they file, but a lot of people don't have the time or money to go there to file," she said.
