With Novack leading the way with a 6-over-par 78, the victors marched to a 13-stroke victory over
Novack was the only player to break 80 as the course played long and soft after a soaking rain Sunday night. She finished five strokes clear of Kaufman,
"There were a lot of high scores today," Novack said. "The course played tough because it was long. We had a lot of rain (Sunday) night. And there is a lot of local knowledge here on our greens. I think we have a big advantage there."
That didn't show up on the front nine as Novack made the turn in 43, 7 over.
"Putting really hurt me," Novack said. "I four-putted No. 4 and I couldn't get the speed of the greens. On the back, they just started to fall for me."
Her confidence grew after she rolled in a length par putt on the par-3 12th.
"It kind of sparked me and I went on from there," Novack said.
She took advantage of the par 5s on the back side, birdieing both the 14th and 17th, and for good measure threw in another birdie on the 15th, hitting a perfect approach to the sinister, sloping two-tiered green.
"I got lucky there," Novack said. "I hit a nice high shot into the green and it just kept trickling down to the hole. The pin was low and it was like three feet away."
She followed by hitting the 17th green in two and two-putting for her third birdie in four holes.
"It's a great honor," Novack said. "We have a great team. We all get along great and we're all friends. It's just nice that we can keep doing it and put Elkview on the map. It's a great club. I just love it here."
