Claimants who are eligible to receive unemployment benefits have the option of receiving them via direct deposit or through a debit card. The debit card can be used to purchase goods and services everywhere the debit
Unemployment benefits are added to workers' debit cards or deposited into their savings or checking account within two or three days following the workers' bi-weekly certification of eligibility by phone or online. Currently, about 35 percent of claimants opt to receive their payment via debit card.
