Fire Destroys Home In Jenny Lind Area

Allison said when he arrived at the scene he saw a bedroom of the home engulfed in flames, with fire coming out of the roof. He called for tanker and pumper support because no fire hydrants exist in the area.
Firefighters spent about 20 minutes getting the flames under control. Allison said the fire left the home destroyed.
"I didn't know if I had someone in there or not," he said. "We had to do a search to see if we had a fatality."
A woman who lived at the residence was at work when the fire started. Allison said he was unsure of her name.
Neither the woman nor the property's landlord had insurance on the home, according to Allison.
"It's an old, old house," Allison said. "Once it got going, it went fast."
