His formal art education came from five semesters of art in high school, taught by fellow Fiddle Crawl Artist Keenia Beck, including AP Art. Two of Sumner's favorite things, old-time music and bluegrass as well as visual arts, are combined for the Fiddle Crawl, which he said is exciting for him.
Sumner shared that he has always loved to draw for fun, and one of his earliest memories of creating art was when he would put in his "Space Jam" VHS movie and pause it during his favorite parts to draw the characters, when he was around 10 or 11 years old. He said he also loved using Microsoft Paint to draw people and cars on the old family computer.
This project is special to Sumner, because he said he doesn't get a chance to create art as much as he would like, except for the occasional decor he creates for his house, using old pallets and scrap wood. He shared that he was encouraged by Main Street Coordinator
