Women open geriatric-care management company

L&L evaluates seniors in their homes or residential facilities to determine appropriate plan of care, according to a release. The company acts as advocates and liaisons with family members, physicians, attorneys, home health agencies, home care agencies, personal care facilities, long-term care facilities, hospitals and hospices, according to the release.
"We will meet with them to do a thorough assessment on financial, environmental, medical and social needs and from that come up with a care plan to make sure their needs are being met," Dorsey said.

The venture is also personal for Kiralfy, she said. She has seen the vicious cycle with her own aging loved ones requiring hospitalization.
"Seniors end up being discharged too early, or with inappropriate planning and services," she said. "Then they end up just returning to the hospital and starting the cycle again. That is discouraging not only for the patients, but for their family members as well".
