"I got to hearing from people that they really liked our show," Addington said. "I don't feel like we have a tremendous amount of money to waste. But at the same time, what else are we giving back?"

All of the council members said they would not back the use of city funds for a fireworks show, but supported asking the EDC to do so. They also backed asking the community and local businesses for money for the show.
The option to have fireworks shipped to the city and have a special effects operator put on the show was also turned down by some council members.

The council voted to state it is passing the issue to the EDC for consideration of having that organization fund the fireworks show.
