Crossman nominees reflect on nomination

The nominees recognize the Crossman Award is a reflection on who they are and what they represent.
"I think I can speak for all of us when I say it's such a big honor," Mouser said.

The nomination process is headed by the high school teachers, who choose students for their efforts inside and outside the classroom.
Several of the nominees are involved in athletics. Allen, Moffatt and Mouser play tennis. Kelly is involved in several sporting activities, such as football, wrestling and track.
Sullivan said being nominated for Crossman raises the students to a higher standard, to let them know great things are expected from them.
"It sets a new standard on how you will be involved in your community," Sullivan said.

"So many people could have gotten it," Allen said.

"I feel honored to be with you," Hare said to his fellow nominees. "You're a good group of people."

Although undecided on where he will attend college, Kelly plans to major in industrial safety and will later pursue a career as a safety technician.
Through school athletics, he has met numerous people who encouraged him to aim high and to do good things. He said the nomination for Crossman might have resulted from what he learned from others.
"There was a lot of motivation to do my best," Kelly said.

He said his success in school has been the result of encouragement from his parents and support from his teachers.

If Mouser has her way, she will attend the
Mouser said she doesn't feel worthy to be nominated for the Crossman Award because there are others who deserve the honor. But she is happy teachers considered her a good contender.
"They think you represent in such a positive way," Mouser said.
She continues to represent

Sullivan said past Crossman nominees were people he looked up to. He is glad to serve in that capacity for other students at the high school. He said that's a role all of the nominees can perform.
"No matter who wins, each of us would be a great representative of our class in our own way," Sullivan said.
