ObamaCare deadline extended for some enrollees; unclear how long

If you do not have coverage, though, you might not be out of luck just yet.
The Obama administration is giving extra time to people who checked a blue box on HealthCare.gov to indicate that they tried to enroll before the deadline.
That's good news, especially if you tried to sign up on Monday but were stymied when the government website shut down for hours.

The government has not said exactly how long the extension will last and also admits that it will not verify whether people who say they tried to sign up actually did so. They'll just take your word for it.
"It's important to make sure that people who tried to sign up for coverage are able to get coverage,"
She said there needs to be a new deadline for those who have been given an extension. "The new special open enrollment period needs to be limited to a defined period of time with a clear end date," Krusing said. "This helps to ensure there is an incentive for people to enroll."
