Local car dealerships prepare for storm season

"There's not a lot to do to prepare except making sure that we have parts on hand for the season," Myers said. "You just try to kind of deal with it when it comes -- I'll monitor the weather reports for sure."
In preparation for a storm, Reynolds will move all of the cars it can hold inside the showroom and available garage space, but there's only so much room, Parks said.
After a bad storm, the dealership will typically repair hail damage and have a hail sale, using insurance payout to sell hail-damaged vehicles at reduced prices, he said. Other customers prefer to purchase hail-damaged vehicles off the lot without repairs to get an even better deal, Parks said.
"In this day and age with paintless dent repair, you can repair most of the damage to vehicles and trim work can be replaced," he said. "We do let the customer know if a car has received hail damage -- we want to be upfront and and honest with our customers."
Reynolds has seen its insurance rates increase for the past two years because of storm damage, Parks said.
