Two pieces of news provide a flicker of hope amid the doom and gloom.
WASHINGTON, March 11 -- The National Republican Congressional Committee issued the following news release:
Most Americans have known for years that ObamaCare is hurting the economy and costing jobs. But as Democrats' broken promises are finally meeting reality, even they are starting to admit it too.
UNITE HERE, a union that represents over 300,000 workers in hotels and gaming industries, is out with a scathing new report that criticizes ObamaCare and admits the law is adding to income inequality among low-wage workers. This is from the very same union that contributed to John Barrow's campaign while he unapologetically supports the law.
He either needs to return the money from the union admittedly suffering under the law he's keeping on the books or pledge his opposition to ObamaCare. It's time for John Barrow to choose.
"John Barrow's hypocrisy has no bounds," said NRCC Communications Director Andrea Bozek. "It's time he stop cashing the checks with one hand and voting to keep ObamaCare with the other."
Barrow Received A Contribution From UNITE HERE PAC. (Unite Here PAC, Center For Responsive Politics (http://www.opensecrets.org/pacs/pacgot.php?cmte=C00004861&cycle=2012), Accessed 3/10/14)
UNITE HERE: ObamaCare "Poses One Of The Most Immediate Challenges To Redressing Inequality." "Ironically, the Administration's own signature healthcare victory poses one of the most immediate challenges to redressing inequality. Yes, the Affordable Care Act will help many more Americans gain some health insurance coverage, a significant step forward for equality. At the same time, without smart fixes, the ACA threatens the middle class with higher premiums, loss of hours, and a shift to part-time work and less comprehensive coverage." UNITE HERE President Donald Taylor: ObamaCare Will Lead To Greater Income Inequality For "The Very Segment Of The Population ObamaCare Should Want To Help Most." "The information addresses the very unfortunate irony of Obamacare. Namely, that it will inevitably lead to the destruction of the healthcare plans we were promised we could keep. And, as a result, it will lead to greater income inequality for the very segment of the population Obamacare should want to help most."
