"I have always believed in the importance of term limits," Blackman said in a statement. "When I ran for city council, my intent was to serve for no more than two terms if my district felt I was doing the job they elected me to do."
Blackman said he hopes residents look at what he was able to accomplish as a city councilman.

Blackman said he is a strong proponent of economic development in bringing jobs to the county and keeping taxes low.
Blackman is most proud of keeping city taxes in check.
"During the 12 years I served, there was only one increase in the city tax rate," Blackman said. "I served with city council people who were aware of the impact that the tax rate had on our citizens and businesses. We worked hard with the city manager and his staff in producing a budget each year that delivered efficient services and kept costs down."
Blackman said he intends to continue to work for lower county taxes if elected.
"I look forward to working with the new county manager when appointed, members of the (
Blackman said in his 12 years of being a council member, only missed three meetings.
"My record, including the votes I cast, are evidence of how I will vote if elected," Blackman stated. "I feel I have a strong record to stand on regarding my service and dedication to this community."
