WASHINGTON, Jan. 14 -- The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee issued the following news release:
DCCC Chairman Steve Israel released the following statement after Senate Republicans blocked efforts to extend unemployment insurance.
"The Senate's failure to extend unemployment insurance is yet another example of Republicans' wrong priorities - they're stacking the deck for special interests and turning their backs on hardworking Americans who are looking for a job. Americans want commonsense, responsible leaders in Washington who won't put their special interest backers ahead of the people they represent and will focus on taking steps to create jobs and strengthen the middle class. I hope Republicans in both houses of Congress will come to their senses and do what is right for the American people, pass unemployment insurance and work together to create jobs - but I'm not holding my breath."
