WASHINGTON, Dec. 9, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- As an answer to the activity created by healthcare reform and the Affordable Care Act, IBEX Global announced today, its HIPAA\HITECH Compliance to address the growing need for its services. "Whether you're a provider, payer, consumer or patient, this legislation is creating a greater need for communication at all levels. And if IBEX is involved as a business associate, we're going to ensure a patient's protected health information is secure," said Ross Edwards, senior vice president at IBEX.
The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) Privacy Rule is the first comprehensive Federal protection for the privacy of personal health information. The HIPAA Privacy Rule provides federal protections for individually identifiable health information held by covered entities and their business associates and gives patients an array of rights with respect to that information. At the same time, the Privacy Rule is balanced so that it permits the disclosure of health information needed for patient care and other important purposes.
The Security Rule requiring compliance specifies a series of administrative, physical, and technical safeguards for covered entities and their business associates to use to assure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of electronic protected health information. The compliance with HIPAA's stringent standards complements IBEX's historical investments in maintaining PCI compliance across its global contact center footprint.
"Implementing a system that allows healthcare organizations to capture, organize and share medical records electronically is a vital part of reform," states Paul Williams, chief information officer at IBEX. "We understand the sensitive nature of this information and have developed protocols that will eliminate any inefficiencies associated with paper record keeping while protecting patients' privacy."
As part of their commitment to the healthcare industry, IBEX Global employs approximately 400 nurses globally to support cost effective alternatives that address utilization management, intake services, Medicare services, case management, and health coaching.
