Do birthdays come any better than yours? "Nope. The best birthday ever. One of a kind. I loved it."
How did you celebrate? "After the goal, I hugged all my teammates. That night we just hung out."
What was going through your mind on the free kick? "To score on a free kick is very unusual. I just kick it really hard to try to score and it worked."
How does that compare to your goal last year to win the state title in the shootout? "I went crazy last year. I was way too pumped. This was completely different. Last year I did it for the seniors."
Last year you came off the bench to take that final PK. That took confidence. "It was from many years of taking PKs. I only missed one my entire life."
What's the key? "You just have to trick the goalie with your eyes and body movement."
What's it like to repeat as state champs? "The entire team was thinking repeat. Since early in the season we'd Tweet 'repeat.'"
Do you play any other sports? "I swim, I went to States (placing sixth in both the 200 IM and 100 breaststroke in Division 2) and I play baseball."
