(Washington, DC) - Congressman Charles W. Boustany, Jr., M.D., (R-South Louisiana) issued the following statement after supporting key legislation preventing an increase in flood insurance rates for homeowners across South Louisiana by blocking Section 207 in the Biggert-Waters Flood Insurance Reform Act of 2012:
"South Louisiana's residents received wonderful news involving the Biggert-Waters Act and its unreasonable flood insurance rate increases. The amendment agreed to by the House last night, prevents rate increases from destroying home ownership in coastal areas across the country, and provides Congress the time to appropriately and carefully amend the language of the Biggert-Waters Act. Not only is it good policy, it is common sense. I am proud to have voted for this legislation."
