Sifting through the opposing rulings on the legality of the subsidies on the federal health insurance exchange.
The MGIS Companies, Inc. (MGIS), a provider of insurance products and services specifically for physicians, announced that industry veteran William T. Lawrence returns to MGIS as Director of Underwriting.
In a release, the Company said that Lawrence has 26 years of experience in professional Group and Individual Disability and Life insurance, much of it working in the physician group marketplace. MGIS said that he has worked with major carriers such as Sun Life Financial, which backs the MGIS group disability and life policies.

Lawrence's background spans all aspects of insurance, including underwriting, service, sales, contract development and consulting. Prior to returning to MGIS, he was an independent broker, focusing on attorney and physician groups. He has also been a national business consultant specializing in physician group disability and life insurance development, marketing and sales for some of the largest disability insurance carriers.
After serving 12 years as a U.S. Air Force officer, MGIS said that Lawrence began his insurance career in 1986 at Unum, a Fortune 500 company that provides financial protection benefits, where he served in both local and regional service management positions in the Unum Western region. In 1993 he opened Unum'sSalt Lake City group sales office. From 1997 to 2005, Lawrence held the position of MGIS National Product Marketing Director, which included managing renewal underwriting strategies, developing contracts and providing marketing and competition comparison materials.
