BOSTON, Nov. 14 -- Holland & Knight issued the following news release:
The Boston Business Journal has selected Steven Wright, the executive partner of Holland & Knight's Boston office, as one of its "Power 50" for 2012. The "Power 50" annually recognizes the business and civic leaders who are "getting things done and leading change" in the Boston economy.
This year's honorees include such luminaries as Andrew Dreyfus, president and CEO, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts; Thomas Menino, mayor, City of Boston; Abigail Johnson, president, Fidelity Financial Services; Drew Gilpin Faust, president, Harvard University; Deborah Dunsire, president and CEO, Millennium Pharmaceuticals, Inc.; Malcom Rogers, director, Museum of Fine Arts; and Robert Kraft, chairman and CEO, New England Patriots. They were profiled in a special supplement published in the November 2 issue.
Mr. Wright is a corporate lawyer who has been a leader in the legal and business communities throughout his career, and has become a powerful role model who has inspired others to follow in his footsteps. In addition to serving as executive partner of Holland & Knight's 135-lawyer Boston office, he recently was elected a director of the 1,000-lawyer international firm. As a leader of the firm, Mr. Wright also plays a key role in the business community, serving on a number of boards. He is a director and executive committee member of The Savings Bank Life Insurance Company of Massachusetts (SBLI), where he worked with the company's leadership team to help reform the company's corporate and regulatory structure.
Mr. Wright participates in important civic activities and is a member of the Supreme Judicial Court Task Force on Judicial Hiring, led by Scott Harshbarger. In late 2011 the Task Force made important recommendations to improve hiring in the state judiciary and probation departments. He is also a member of the Commonwealth Compact, an organization dedicated to diversifying Boston's business, education, and nonprofit communities.
Mr. Wright is a member of the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce and chair of its Transportation Committee. He is currently a member of the leadership team of attorneys representing the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) in a several-billion-dollar commuter rail procurement contract (one of the largest procurements in the state's history) and represents various corporate clients in privacy and regulatory matters.
Mr. Wright's background also includes various leadership positions and public sector assignments. Prior to joining Holland & Knight, Mr. Wright served as deputy counsel to the mayor of New York City and was the Massachusetts Deputy Bureau Chief in the Massachusetts Attorney General's office.
