IIABNY And Trusted Choice Launch ‘Hope In A Bag’ Drive
(DeWitt, New York, Nov. 14, 2012)— The Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of New York and Trusted Choice® today called on their 1,750 member agencies to unite in support of Superstorm Sandy victims. The group announced Hope in a Bag, a drive to collect Thanksgiving items for people suffering from the storm’s effects.
New York’s oldest insurance producer trade association and Trusted Choice® are attempting to fill 1,000 reusable shopping bags with items to brighten Thanksgiving Day for storm victims. They are seeking donations throughout New York State for distribution in time for the November 22 holiday to the areas hit hard by the storm.
IIABNY Director of Marketing and Communications Julie MacConnell said, “As our fellow New Yorkers downstate are rebuilding themselves, and helping others rebuild their homes and lives, we want to do more. Through the amazing generosity of our great state, help is flooding in. What happens, though, in two weeks when Thanksgiving comes and most people get back to their own lives? We want to be there to offer a bit of hope – Hope in a Bag.”
The Trusted Choice® independent insurance agents and brokers are asking members and their customers to donate:
? Reusable bags
? Non-perishable food items, such as stuffing; canned vegetables; cranberries; gravy; soups; and similar items
? Fun items, such as Thanksgiving decorations and small toys for children
? Cards and notes offering messages of hope and thanksgiving
? Gift cards
MacConnell noted, “It takes 10 minutes to fill a bag and costs less than $10.”
A list of sites where donations can be dropped off is at http://nyhopeinabag.com. The group plans to collect the bags and items until November 16 and distribute them to people in the affected areas on November 20.
