CSC (NYSE: CSC) today announced the 2012 winners of the third annual Connect for Life and Annuity Awards, which recognize CSC clients for exceptional results achieved in policy administration, information technology, customer experience and social networking, and for setting outstanding examples in the area of regulatory compliance leadership. CSC's North American client community nominated and selected the winning carriers, which were honored at an awards ceremony attended by more than 400 of their peers at the CSC Connect for Life and Annuity conference in New Orleans.
John Hancock Financial Services of Boston, a unit of Manulife Financial Corporation, received the overall Industry Leadership Award for upgrading its existing VANTAGE-ONE and Distribution Support System (DSS) mainframe environments to a new zLinux distributed platform for a lower total cost of ownership.
"With current market conditions impacting the annuity business, we were looking for innovative, cutting-edge technology to lower our operating costs and optimize our platform's efficiency and effectiveness," said Tony Todisco, vice president, John Hancock Annuity Systems. "We decided to embark on this project because we have a long-standing relationship with CSC and have a track record of success with them in other large projects. The strategic move is expected to generate significant cost savings."
For the second consecutive year, Pacific Life Insurance Company of Newport Beach, Calif., won the Leadership in Policy Administration Award. This year the carrier was recognized for an upgrade of CyberLife (http://www.csc.com/life_annuities_and_pensions/offerings/22990/58041-cyberlife) completed with staffing support from CSC's managed services, setting a standard for timely software upgrades.
Federated Life Insurance Company of Owatonna, Minn., received the Leadership in Information Technology Award for implementing nbAccelerator (http://www.csc.com/life_annuities_and_pensions/offerings/22990/58098-nbaccelerator) in conjunction with Insurance Optics Business Analytics (http://www.csc.com/life_annuities_and_pensions/offerings/22990/58114-business_analytics_for_life_insurance_annuities_and_pensions). The systems now support onboarding applications, policy processing, requirements management and work tracking. They also facilitate Federated's tele-interview process.
Lincoln Financial Group of Philadelphia won the Customer Experience Award for implementing Customer Service Accelerator (http://www.csc.com/life_annuities_and_pensions/offerings/22990/58106-customer_service_accelerator) to provide its representatives with a single, intuitive, web-based application that interfaces with Lincoln's core administration systems.
American Family Insurance of Madison, Wis., won the WikonnecT/Social Networking Award for providing useful content to CSC's business-to-business social networking site, WikonnecT (http://www.csc.com/financial_services/ds/35938-wikonnect).
Thrivent Financial for Lutherans of Appleton, Wis., and Allstate Insurance Company of Northbrook, Ill., were recognized for their proactive leadership in CSC's Regulatory Compliance Community.
