Florida Tech Professor Earns $112,500 Grant for Life-critical Systems Research

MELBOURNE, Fla., Aug. 3 -- Florida Institute of Technology issued the following news release:

University Professor Guy Boy of the Florida Institute of Technology has earned a $112,500 grant from the Partner University Fund (PUF) for his project, "Joint research lab on risk management in life-critical systems." The project, between Florida Tech and the Universite de Valenciennes, was one of 11 selected from among 70 applications. Boy is director of the university's Human Centered Design Institute.

The grant announcement letter, from the French embassy in New York reads, in part, "The PUF Grant Review Committee greatly appreciated the scientific quality of your project and the commitment of your institution to the partnership."

The funding will support an exchange of professors. Faculty from the Universite de Valenciennes will teach human-centered design at Florida Tech and Florida Tech professors will visit France.

The university offers a doctoral degree in human-centered design through its Human-Centered Design Institute (HCDi).
