WASHINGTON
New York Life Insurance Co. has named Frances Arricale, who recently left her post as executive director of the Interstate Insurance Product Regulation Commission, as the company's vice president for international governmental affairs.
Arricale returns to New York Life, where she previously worked as a governmental affairs attorney for state regulatory matters and international issues, after directing the Interstate Insurance Compact through its first three years of operation. Made operational in June 2006, the IIPRC was created by the National Association of Insurance Commissioners to address "speed-to-market" concerns in life insurance, and serves as a central filing point for life, annuity, disability income and long-term care products developed in accordance with a set of commission-approved uniform standards.
Prior to joining the IIPRC, Arricale was general counsel for the New York City Commission to the United Nations, advising on international legal matters and serving as liaison with the resident diplomatic community.
With New York Life, where she will be a part of the insurer's Washington-based Office of Governmental Affairs led by Senior Vice President George Nichols III, Arricale will be responsible for representing the company's interests both in the Washington policy-making community and with representatives of foreign governments.
New York Life Insurance Co. currently has a Best's Financial Strength Rating of A++ (Superior).
