ADDISON, Texas, Jan. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Concentra Inc. ("Concentra")
announced January 25th that the Texas Department of Insurance's Division of
Workers' Compensation has certified its second service area expansion of the
Concentra Health Care Network (HCN). Concentra is the nation's leading
provider of workers' compensation medical services and cost management
solutions, and the Concentra HCN is a statewide network of providers
consisting of Concentra's medical centers as well as numerous other primary
care providers, specialists, and hospitals.
As a result of this service area expansion, Concentra's HCN is now
available in the areas of Dallas/Fort Worth, Austin, San Antonio, Houston, El
Paso, Lubbock, Amarillo, Corpus Christi, South Texas, Texarkana, Nacogdoches,
Midland/Odessa, Abilene, and parts of Central Texas. The combined Concentra
HCN Service Area now includes 208 counties representing 97% of the Texas
workforce. This expansion represents a 40% increase in Texas counties and a
5% increase in workforce coverage from the first Concentra HCN service area
expansion in August of 2006.
"Concentra is working hard to make health care accessible and affordable,
both in Texas and nationwide," said Dan Thomas, President and CEO of Concentra
Inc. "This second expansion of the Concentra HCN Service Area underscores our
commitment to that goal. From the beginning of the HCN process, we have
focused on developing a network of medical providers who are dedicated to
delivering consistent and appropriate treatment to achieve optimal outcomes."
Bruce Singleton, Vice President of Product Development and Management for
Concentra Network Services, added, "We are happy to receive certification to
make our network available to employers in additional areas across Texas.
While we continue to seek opportunities to expand to uncertified areas, we are
focused primarily on expanding physician participation within currently
certified areas."
Concentra is currently serving as the network provider for a number of
carriers and employers in Texas, including Texas Mutual Insurance's Texas Star
Network(SM), the first workers' compensation Health Care Network to be
certified by the State.
