Feb. 23--LIMA -- Stolly Insurance Agency, of Lima, conducted a Facebook contest for the "Hustle Player of Year Award." The goal was to search for the player who demonstrated the "willingness to do whatever it takes to help their team win." More than 20 schools in a four-county area participated.
On Feb. 8, Stolly Insurance Group and Motorists Insurance, represented by Terra Henkle and Chad Stolly, presented the Stolly Insurance Hustle Player of Year Award to Parkway's Brant Barna. Barna received four OSU basketball tickets for being voted the area's Ultimate Hustle Player. First runner up went to Kent Hemmelgarn, from St. Henry. He won a football autographed by Archie Griffin.
St. Charles needs your vote in video contest
LIMA -- The library at St. Charles Elementary School has entered a video contest sponsored by Follett Corp, a school and library company founded in 1873.
The object of the contest is to show how your library has grown electronically over the years. To view and vote for St. Charles' video, go to www.follettchallenge.com and type "St. Charles." Voting may be done until March 15.
The Grainger Foundation supports NIE
LIMA -- The Grainger Foundation has donated $5,000 to The Lima News' Newspaper-In-Educations program, in support of increased literacy in northwest and west central Ohio.
The grant will be used to help teachers use newspapers in their classrooms to teach children of all ages to read, do math, learn about history and build awareness of their community.
The donation was recommended by Rick Larson, branch manager of W.W. Grainger, Inc.'sLima location. Grainger has been a part of the Lima business community for many years as the leading broad line supplier of maintenance, repair and operating products.
West Ohio Food Bank receives donation
LIMA -- The West Ohio Food Bank has received a donation of 14,920 meals from g 2 revolution. The donation is a result of g 2 revolution President Billy Watterson and his staff donating funds to the West Ohio Food Bank for every box, bucket or drum of recyclable products they process each month.
For more than five years, g 2 revolution has been committed to providing innovative recycling solutions to their clients. Their goal has been changing the way the world recycles by creating a "second life" for materials that once were destined for a landfill or incineration.
Ottawa Chevrolet gives to Ottawa Soccer
OTTAWA -- Ottawa Chevrolet, one of 15 Chevrolet dealers from the Toledo area, partnered with local youth soccer leagues for the 2012 season.
Ottawa Chevrolet provided Ottawa Soccer with equipment donations, supported a unique vehicle giveaway sweepstakes and participated in an instructional soccer clinic.
"Sponsoring Ottawa Soccer gave us the opportunity to illustrate our commitment to the youth and families in Ottawa, and we're glad to have achieved such positive outcome for the community," said Tom Duff, salesman for Ottawa Chevrolet.
In 2012, more than 700 Chevrolet dealers particiapted in Chevy Youth Soccer across the U.S.
