Annual Employee-Led Event Contributes More Than $159,000

MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Allianz Life Insurance Company of North America (Allianz Life) today announced that its annual Driving to Donate Charity Golf Tournament raised more than $159,000, surpassing last year’s total of $136,000. Proceeds from the tournament went to the Alzheimer’s Association MN-ND, a non-profit that seeks to eliminate Alzheimer’s disease through the advancement of research and promotion of brain health, supporting their early stage intervention project, support groups and advocacy efforts. Starting 16 years ago, Driving to Donate has been one of the premier fundraising activities for Allianz Life employees to contribute to local charities.

“As part of our community outreach efforts, Allianz Life is focused on providing services to seniors, so we’re proud to support organizations like the Alzheimer’s Association through this event,” said Gretchen Cepek, general counsel for Allianz Life and a member of the Alzheimer’s Association MN-ND board. “Once again, our employees and vendor partners embraced the fund-raising challenge and helped us make a tremendous contribution to this worthy cause.”

Approximately 300 Allianz Life employees and vendor partners participated in the tournament, which was held at Bunker Hills Golf Course in Coon Rapids, Minn. The final contribution of more than $159,000 was achieved through the golf outing, raffle ticket sales, and an online auction. Key vendor partnerships that contributed to the record donation included golf tournament presenting sponsor Jorden Burt LLP, as well as Accenture, MotivAction, Faegre Baker Daniels and Tata Consultancy Services.

“The end of Alzheimer's starts with us – Allianz Life and its employees have taken that statement to heart and are truly making a difference in the lives of those impacted by Alzheimer's Disease,” said Sue Spalding, Executive Director of the Alzheimer’s Association MN-ND. “I am impressed by the tremendous enthusiasm and dedication of the Allianz Life employees to our mission and vision.”
