Aug. 14--Another member of WellPoint's board of directors is publicly defending CEO Angela Braly.
Braly, who also is chairman and president of the Indianapolis-based health insurer, has taken heat in recent weeks from analysts and investors who are unsatisfied with the company's performance under her tenure.
Director Jacquelyn Ward defended Braly, saying the board was supportive of the management team and its strategy.
Now, another board member -- retired surgeon Lenox Baker -- is also defending Braly. "Angela, I think, has done a great job," he told Bloomberg. "Quite frankly, I think some of this stuff with the company is coming from Wall Street. I'm much more looking to the future."
