BATON ROUGE, La., Aug. 3 -- Louisiana Workforce Commission issued the following news release:

Staff of the Louisiana Workforce Commission will address Lafayette area employers at a seminar focusing on the basics of unemployment insurance Thursday, Aug. 23, from 10 a.m. to noon.

The event, sponsored by the Acadiana Society of Human Resource Management, is free of charge and will be held at the Louisiana Economic Development Authority Resource Center, 211 E. Devalcourt St., Lafayette.

Employers that want to broaden their knowledge on the basics of unemployment insurance, the appeals and the adjudication process are encouraged to pre-register as space is limited.

The seminar will be led by Stephen Harris, LWC executive management officer, and will include an overview of unemployment insurance, changes to the law and compliance, as well as how employers can contain the cost of their unemployment insurance taxes.
