WASHINGTON, July 30 -- Obama for America issued the following blog posted by Lauren Peterson:

Dear President Obama,

My son, Eddie, would be alive today if the Affordable Care Act, which exempts lifetime limits on coverage, had been in effect when my son's health insurance coverage vanished.

Eddie's diagnosis at the age of 27 was stage 4 colon cancer, with metastases to his liver. However, Eddie's treatment went well, until after his health insurance provider informed him that his health care costs would no longer be covered, as he had used up his lifetime maximum coverage. Consequently, Eddie's level of treatment declined. As a result, a brain tumor went undetected until it caused a stroke, which contributed to his unfortunate passing on Father's Day, June 19th, 2011, at the age of 30. Eddie was a loving and kind son who fought bravely not only for himself, but for many of the more than 10,000 friends he had on Facebook.

I thank you, President Obama, for having the fortitude to stand behind your Affordable Care Act. As a result, not only will you help my other five children, but also many more Eddies, who will benefit greatly from continued health insurance during their serious illnesses.

Additionally, my children and I pray for you and your family daily, President Obama. We know that God will continue to bless you and your family, and keep making you a blessing to many. We support you as you continue to help us, the American people, and move forward during the next four years. We love you and are grateful for all that you are doing.
