MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- This month, MMIC reaffirmed its commitment to providing technical solutions and managing cyber risk for hospitals, clinics and long-term care facilities by expanding its Health IT staff. Joining its ranks is John Woodward, vice president of sales, and Lynn Welch, senior communications consultant.

According to Niles Cole, the company’s senior vice president and CFO who oversees the Health IT division, these staff positions were added to help meet customer demand for Health IT products and services, and to expand MMIC’s reach in that market. “While many recognize MMIC as a successful medical professional liability insurer, there are others who are not yet aware of the depth and breadth of our Health IT offerings,” said Cole. “We are looking forward to having John and Lynn change that.”

MMIC’s Health IT division currently offers:

  • NextGen electronic health record and complementary products
  • Consulting services, including strategic IT, meaningful use, HIPAA and EHR data exchange consulting
  • Technical services, including network, managed IT and remote backup services
  • Development services, including Web site development, search engine optimization and custom reporting for quality initiatives

These are just a few of the products and services that Woodward will manage and market. He brings nearly 23 years of professional sales, marketing and management experience, primarily in health care clinical software and health information technology, to his new role.

Prior to joining MMIC, Woodward was COO and President of Indigo Identityware, a software developer dedicated to providing password-free mobile and virtual access for clinicians. He was a founding executive of cMore Medical Solutions, Inc., rebranded as ProVation Medical, Inc. in 2002, and acquired by Wolters Kluwer in 2006.

“My immediate goals at MMIC are twofold,” said Woodward. “First, to build a world class consultative sales team; and second, to review and build our software and services offerings to make sure we have the best mix of products, tools and services that our physician clients need to remain independent in their practice of medicine.”

Lynn Welch, a seasoned communications professional, will provide full time marketing, advertising and communications support to the Health IT team. Welch is an accomplished, versatile communications professional with experience in medical and wellness communications at UnitedHealth Group, Blue Cross, Definity Health, Institute for Clinical Systems Improvement, and Cigna.
