DALLAS, May 8 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Centex Corporation (NYSE: CTX)
today issued the following statement from Timothy R. Eller, chairman and chief
executive officer of Centex, regarding the U.S. House of Representatives
passage of the American Housing Rescue and Foreclosure Prevention Act (H.R.
3221):
"The proposed tax credit in this bill will have a positive impact,
especially for first-time homebuyers. I'm optimistic this bill will be the
foundation for the legislation that Congress ultimately passes to help restore
confidence in the housing market," Mr. Eller said. "I bought my first home in
1974 through a similar tax-credit initiative. I've been a homeowner ever
since. This is a responsible approach to making the American Dream of
homeownership more attainable. I urge Congress to move quickly and send a
final bill to the President."
