WORCESTER, Mass., Nov. 10 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The Hanover Insurance Group, Inc. Medical Diagnostic Equipment coverage protects a broad range of equipment from small, low-value items, to high-value machinery, such as MRIs. One of the most comprehensive coverages in the marketplace, MDE protects equipment whether it is loaned or leased; scheduled or unscheduled; stationary or mobile.

"The medical industry is growing rapidly and technology is driving its advances in state-of-the-art tools and equipment to better assist doctors and patients," said Sophia Phillips, President Hanover Marine-commercial lines at The Hanover. "The Hanover's Medical Diagnostic Equipment form is helping our agent partners respond to that trend and offer their healthcare customers a broad range coverage for the tools they use throughout the diagnostic process."

This new form of coverage showcases The Hanover's commitment to offering its network of independent agents a broad appetite and total solution for their commercial clients. Medical Diagnostic Equipment coverage can be purchased as a standalone policy or as an endorsement to The Hanover's Avenues(R) Commercial Package Policy, which specifically covers medical offices and their risks. The product also may complement The Hanover's Business Owners Policy, if a small medical facility has more than $250,000 in eligible equipment.

"We have a broad appetite for mid sized medical facilities, such as hospitals, imaging centers and assisted living facilities as well as small medical offices and clinics, including allergists, cardiologist, dentists, endocrinologists, and general practitioners," said David J. Firstenberg, president of commercial lines at The Hanover. "Our MDE coverage will help agents with clients in the medical industry, offering them a total solution for their very specific risks and needs."

The Medical Diagnostic Equipment form covers:

-- Active data processing: media, data and programs -- Expediting expenses -- Extra expenses -- Newly acquired equipment -- Pollutant clean-up and removal -- Rental reimbursement -- Site control system -- Repair and/or replacement of peripheral equipment such as computers and site control systems
