The U.S. insurance industry lost 3,400 jobs in October, the 12th consecutive month of losses, according to seasonally adjusted data released Nov. 6 by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. The overall national unemployment rate topped 10% for the highest rate since April 1983.
